Comparison
Gryper vs Hevy vs Strong: which workout tracker fits you?
All three log sets and reps well. Gryper is different in that it maps every set onto your muscles and grades each muscle’s weekly sets against MEV, MAV and MRV, and its free version has no cap on routines or custom exercises. Hevy has a social feed and a larger ecosystem; Strong is a fast, minimal logger. Gryper doesn’t yet log cardio by time or distance, or have a watch app.

What makes Gryper different
- It answers “was that enough?” per muscle. Every set is credited to the muscles it trains, and each muscle’s weekly sets are graded below MEV, productive, high or past MRV.
- Logging matches the gym: load plates on a bar, pick a dumbbell off a rack, move the pin on a stack, spin a dial for reps.
- The free version doesn’t cap what you put in: unlimited routines, custom exercises and workouts, plus records, streaks and a full data export.
Who Gryper suits
Gryper suits lifters who follow a split or routine and care about how much each muscle is trained, typically intermediate lifters chasing size and strength. Beginners can use it from day one: logging is simple, a starter routine is included, and the map shows which muscles a program misses. If you mainly want a social feed, cardio tracking or a watch app today, Hevy or Strong will fit better.
Switching to Gryper
Coming from Hevy, import your full history from a CSV export and your muscle map fills in straight away. Coming from Strong, there is no importer yet, so you start fresh.
Questions
Is Gryper a good Hevy alternative?
If you want muscle-level volume tracking against MEV, MAV and MRV and no caps on routines or custom exercises on the free version, yes, and it imports your Hevy history. If you rely on Hevy’s social feed, cardio logging or watch app, not yet.
Is Gryper a good Strong alternative?
If you like Strong’s fast logging but want to see which muscles you trained and whether each got enough weekly sets, yes. There is no Strong importer yet.
Who is Gryper best for, beginners or experienced lifters?
Both can use it, but it shines for lifters running a structured split who want to manage weekly volume per muscle. Beginners get simple logging and a clear picture of what their program covers.
