Switching from Hevy

Import your Hevy history into Gryper

Export your workouts from Hevy as a CSV, then open Gryper and choose Profile → Import from Hevy. Gryper matches each Hevy exercise to its library, lets you check the matches, and brings in every workout with its sets, weights, reps, set types, RPE, notes and supersets. Routines, body measurements and photos do not transfer.

Step by step

  1. In Hevy, export your workout data as a CSV file (in Hevy’s settings, under exporting your data) and save it to your phone’s Files.
  2. In Gryper, sign in or create a free account. Import needs an account and an internet connection, because your history is saved to it.
  3. Go to Profile → Import from Hevy and tap “Choose a Hevy CSV export”.
  4. Review the exercise matches. Gryper matches names exactly, by known aliases, by pattern and then by similarity. For anything it can’t place, use an existing Gryper exercise or create a custom one and tap the muscles it trains.
  5. Import. You get a summary of workouts added, skipped or replaced, sets logged and total volume.

Importing again, and duplicates

Gryper recognises workouts it imported before by their name and start time. If you import a newer Hevy export, choose Merge to skip those and add only new workouts, or Replace to overwrite them with the file’s data.

If an imported workout has the same name and start time as one you logged by hand in Gryper, it is listed under “Needs your input” and skipped unless you choose Import as new. Gryper never silently overwrites a workout you logged yourself.

After the import

Imported workouts show up in History and count toward your muscle map, weekly volume against MEV, MAV and MRV, records and estimated one-rep max straight away, so you start with your full history rather than an empty map.

Questions

Gryper says my file is missing columns.

Gryper expects Hevy’s workout export, which has columns such as title, start_time, exercise_title, set_type, weight_kg and reps. A routine export or an edited spreadsheet won’t import. Export the workouts again from Hevy and try that file.

Is there a size limit?

Files up to 10 MB or 50,000 sets, which covers years of training.

Can I import from Strong?

Not yet. Hevy is the only import today. You can export your Gryper history as a CSV or JSON archive at any time.
